Why start looking for your next provider so early??
I know that your young person has only just gone back to school/college and the last think you are thinking about is which providers to choose next year!!
However, the earlier you start looking at your next steps the more likely you are to secure a place. This year has seen all Adult Education providers oversubscribed and therefore young people have lost out on places.
In order to make sure you do not miss out on places for next year, you must start as soon as possible. You need to ensure that either yourself, school or college are arranging transition visits to all potential providers.
Parents/carers must visit or make contact with potential providers in order to gain all information and have your questions answered. Most providers run open days where you can make these arrangements.

So what do I do next to make sure my son/daughter gets a place with providers?
Once you have decided on your destination, you must then go through Careers South West (https://cswgroup.co.uk/) and they will discuss all options with you and ask you to confirm your preferences. It is also important to name which provider you want in your EHCP annual review meeting.
No places are secure until County have confirmed with the relevant providers.
They say “the early bird catches the worm” and even though places are not based on first come, first served there is a better chance if you can make your decisions as soon as possible.
Do not, however, make applications or tell more than one provider that you want to attend their provision as some will add you to a potential list and then when you do make your decision, the other providers could have turned away other potential students.
